A young girl arose with confidence and charisma.
She was given an unforeseen future;
she spoke to a nation with stories of hope
and led her sister to join the folk.

For a girl, life seemed full of scope,
but for a woman, a burden slowly awoke.
Could anyone carry the weight of a Monarchy?
And lead the country through honour and atrocities?

Was this journey planed before entrance?
A delicate procedure provoking stature and diligence.
But help and guidance would be needed,
and a Prince stood beside her and offered allegiance.

A bond was created that would be strong,
for behind every couple, marriage is formed.

A Queen and Duke;
a country that could;
Queen Elizabeth II –
who reigned as it should.

Through the memory of dreams that became a reality;
for a woman who stood ground for seven decades of morality.
The public sees a flame of courageousness,
for no other mortal could carry the burdensome.

As the past and future roll into one,
we all look towards our distinctive Mums.
Because without you,
the mighty flag will fall,
and life wouldn’t be here on this silver pearl.

Thank you for the time earned –
on a journey for what was all to be learned.
I wish you well on the next adventure to be burned;
in the day of the night where there are children of concern.

A Queen and Duke;
a country that could;
Queen Elizabeth II –
who reigned as it should.
